Frequency Forge is designing safeguarding to protect dignity, autonomy, consent and safety, with particular attention to women survivors, women in recovery and women in electronic music. Nobody has to disclose their story to be treated with respect or access an activity.
Frequency Forge is not an emergency or crisis service. In Spain, use 112 for immediate danger or a medical emergency. For clinical, legal or gender-based violence needs, contact competent professional or specialist services.
This policy applies to Frequency Forge activities and people acting within them: board, team, volunteers, educators, mentors, artists, contractors, suppliers, partners, participants and visitors where relevant. Board members’ external professional activities are outside scope unless they are acting for Frequency Forge.
Dignity, agency, consent, autonomy, harm minimisation, proportionate confidentiality, non-retaliation and documented decisions. We do not require disclosure of violence, trauma, health or other intimate circumstances in order to participate or be heard.
Sexual or discriminatory harassment, coercion, threats, intimidation, stalking, retaliation, abuse of power, sexual contact without consent, exploitation, violence, incitement to hatred, and exchanging opportunities for sexual or personal favours are incompatible with Frequency Forge activities.
Mentors, educators, leads and anyone controlling access, opportunity, assessment or resources must not use that position to pressure, seduce, isolate or create dependency. Private messaging, backstage access, transport, alcohol and meetings outside activities require role-appropriate boundaries.
Consent must be free, specific, reversible and understandable. Silence, pressure, professional dependency or capacity clearly impaired by alcohol or other substances must not be treated as consent. Saying no must not negatively affect opportunity, access or treatment.
A person may raise a concern without making a formal complaint and without providing every detail at the outset. There should be an understandable route, support options and protection from retaliation. A concern alone does not prove wrongdoing; it may justify proportionate protective measures while facts are assessed.
Response should separate immediate safety, support, preservation of necessary information, conflicts of interest, investigation where appropriate and referral to competent professionals or authorities. Material decisions and reasons should be documented. Frequency Forge does not perform clinical, policing or legal functions belonging to specialists.
Safeguarding information is limited to those who need it to protect and respond. Avoid forwarding narratives, screenshots, medical history or unnecessary identities. Sensitive records must be kept separately from general email with restricted access, defined retention and deletion criteria.
Retaliation is not tolerated against someone raising a concern in good faith, supporting another person or cooperating with review. Protection is compatible with fair process: we do not publish allegations or conclusions without basis and avoid exposing any party beyond what is necessary.
Current public flows are designed for adults. Any activity involving minors requires a specific child/adolescent safeguarding framework, legal basis, accountable leads, ratios, permissions, personnel checks where applicable and risk assessment before launch.
Partners, venues and suppliers involved in a Frequency Forge activity must understand applicable expectations, responsibilities, escalation routes and limits on data and image use. Sponsorship or collaboration does not exempt anyone from standards.
Before the first programme with formal incident handling, the board must appoint a primary safeguarding lead and alternate, define conflicts, record access, retention, escalation criteria and periodic review. This v0.1 will be updated after appointment and professional review.
Until a restricted safeguarding channel is active, use info@frequencyforge.org only to request private contact. Suggested subject: “SAFE CONTACT”. Include only your name or alias, a safe way to contact you and that you want to discuss a concern. Do not include medical history, images, identity documents, third-party names or a detailed narrative in the first message.
